About
Lerina Winter was born in the artistically rich city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Raised by entrepreneurial parents with a deep passion for native art culture and nurtured by a Waldorf education, Lerina has been surrounded by creativity her entire life.
Her journey into photography began in high school, and by the age of 17 she had already established herself as a professional photographer, officially launching her business two years later. Growing up during the era of film, Lerina fondly recalls the thrill of accompanying her mother to drop off 35mm film for development and the magic of watching Polaroids come to life as her father used them to archive antiques. With over a decade of experience photographing weddings and events, she remains captivated by the tactile beauty and timeless quality of film, which she often incorporates into her work.
By the time she turned one, her parents had taken her to 25 of the 50 states, instilling in her a lifelong passion for travel and movement. This love for exploration has seamlessly intertwined with her photography career, taking her to tropical destinations like Havana, Cuba, and Cartagena, Colombia; the vibrant cityscapes of San Francisco and New York City; the serene wine country of Santa Ynez, Paso Robles, and Napa; and the untamed wilderness of Southeast Alaska, to name a few.
When she’s not behind the lens, Lerina immerses herself in the wonders of the great outdoors. Whether hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, canoeing, camping, sailing, or embarking on a road trip, she’s always seeking new adventures. Her latest achievement in this realm was earning her PADI® Open Water Diver Scuba Certification in late 2022, where she also experienced the thrill of shooting 35mm film underwater for the first time.
